When Chance arrived at the dorm room he immediately pulled off his jacket. He couldn't tell if his face was hot from irritation or embarrassment. Piyapiya had insisted on walking with him, so he ended up walking her all the way to her dorm, making it take even longer for him to get to his. He let out an exasperated sigh, barely noticing Oniko's presence in the room.

"Man," Chance huffed, "girls are insane!" If the shenanigans that had ensued today weren't proof enough, he didn't know what was.

Oniko sat on his bed, fiddling with a few marbles, rolling them around as if they were the only thing that existed in the world. Oniko didn't look at him. "Uh huh," he said unenthusiastically.

Chance raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong with you?"

The meu meu picked up a marble and let it roll around in his hand. "Nothing." Chance caught a flicker of Oniko's ultramarine eyes; he could see they held contempt towards what they were staring at. Chance almost shot him back a glare. "Don't go near my grandfather again, alright?"

Suddenly feeling defensive, Chance replied, "But he's--"

"I mean it, Chance. I can't apologize for your behavior every time you lose your cool."

And he did sound like he meant it. Chance was taken aback by this and did glare at him this time. The scolding tone in his voice felt like a prick in his side. Talking down to him, that's what it was, that's what it felt like he was doing. He says he can't clean up my mistakes? Sure, thanks no problem buddy I was only sticking up for your hide. It's not my fault your grandfather is such an ass.

"You don't need to. I was standing up for you, stupid cat," he remarked bitterly. "The old guy was way out of line!"

"No, Chance. You were." Oniko's gaze fell onto the marbles again. He placed the one back in the pile with the others and rolled them around. "You can defend yourself any way you want, but the fact is that you disrespected my grandfather. So
please, don't go near him anymore."

Chastising. He was chastising him like a child that had done a bad thing but couldn't understand why. Chance could feel is temper rising, but he could not come up with an excuse to defend himself. Then he said something ridiculously childish. "You're just gonna take that jerk's side?"

He already knew the answer. Oniko gave him a warning glance. "I have to."

Chance walked over to the closet, pulled out his night clothes and went to the bathroom to prepare for bed. He knew he wasn't going to get much sleep, but he did it anyway to occupy himself, away from the tension that permeated throughout the interior of the room.

---------
"I can't clean up your mistakes, even though you were sticking up for me. I'm going to take my grandfather's side in this against you because you acted like such a child"; that's how Chance interpreted what Oniko said. As you can all tell, some old wounds are brought up here, and Chance immediately gets defensive when he feels he is in a similar situation to what he was.
As you all know, in his middle school days everyone talked down to him, and even his neglecting parents had this superiority mindset/speech as well. He can't stand it.
Unforetunately, this mindset he has is that he is being attacked and he has to be on the defensive. When he defended Oniko it was just like how he had to defend himself in middle school, but when he is reprimanded for it he does not immediately see the underlying reason Oniko has for saying this.

As you can see I have been having to do a lot of psychoanalysis in English lately, so it's carrying on to here. xD Now I'm kind of bummed that this is so short, darn. Oh well. On to write about Ethuil's Courtship Month! :iconwtwplz:

Happy (kind of belated) Birthday to :icondragonian-di:!
